ELVIS PRESLEY TO PERFORM ONCE AGAIN WITH SINGER CELINE DION

Celine Dion and American Idol give back

Elvis Presley is to perform from beyond the grave with Celine Dion at the 'Idol Gives Back' charity event tomorrow. Celine will team up with a 'virtual' Elvis to sing 'If I Can Dream' for the special 'American Idol' show. A source told gossip website TMZ.com: "Celine will sing with a virtual Elvis in the vein of Natalie Cole and Nat King Cole's 'Unforgettable'." Celine performed the song with an Elvis impersonator during rehearsals last week, but a hologram of 'The King' - who died nearly 30 years ago - will allegedly be used for the final performance. 'American Idol' host Ryan Seacrest teased: "Two of the biggest stars in musical history will come together. This duet will have to be seen to be believed." The remaining 'American Idol' contestants will join Celine and Elvis as backing singers. The finalists will also perform 'American Prayer' - a song written by Bono and Dave Stewart to raise awareness about AIDS in Africa. The special two-hour show, which will raise money to fight poverty in the US and Africa, will also feature former 'American Idol' winners Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood, Gwen Stefani, Pink, Hugh Grant, Keira Knightley, Jack Black, Helen Mirren, Annie Lennox and Wind and Fire. The event, hosted by Ellen DeGeneres, will feature performances from the 'American Idol' stage and the Los Angeles' Walt Disney Concert Hall.

SIMON COWELL DEFENDS ROLLING EYES

Simon Cowell is always in hot water !

Simon Cowell has denied he rolled his eyes when an 'American Idol' contestant paid tribute to the Virginia Tech massacre victims. The judge was caught on camera making a face at fellow judge Paula Abdul when contestant Chris Richardson interrupted Simon's critique of his "nasal-y" singing to pay tribute to those killed in the horrific campus shooting, in which 33 people died. Simon told 'American Idol' host Ryan Seacrest on his radio show: "We must address this crazy story that appeared that I rolled my eyes disrespectfully at Chris because he made the comment. "The truth is that I had switched off at that point. I was saying to Paula, 'What does he mean he was singing nasal-y on purpose?' I didn't understand what he was saying. "So I hadn't even heard what he'd said afterwards. And my eye rolling is what I was saying to Paula. I have never heard so much rubbish. "You know what, half of the time I can't hear what they are saying, and I don't think they can hear what I am saying." Richardson had defended his performance, before he said: "My heart and prayers go out to Virginia Tech. I have a lot of friends over there. Be strong." The camera then cut to Simon's seemingly insensitive look. The British music mogul has now commended Richardson for his comments. He said: "Chris was right to have said what he said because he is from that neck of the woods and if I would have heard what he said I would have responded properly to that. "The irony was that we discussed this before the show and wondered, 'What do you do in a situation like this when something terrible happens? Do you ignore it?' "Ryan Seacrest wanted to say something in the beginning, which I think was right. And I thought we should do something at the end to sort of close it. I wanted to say to the kids it was a difficult week for everybody." Ryan added: "Let's just be honest, no human being would be that disrespectful to anybody involved in that awful tragedy."

IDOL SANJAYA MALAKAR FOR PRESIDENT

Sanjaya Malakar's going to be famous no matter what !
Sanjaya Malakar is the hottest name in entertainment. Why? I'm not sure, and I don't think anybody really is. One thing is certain: he is a top entertainer, even if he's not a singer. That's maybe the first reason he's still on 'American Idol'. Sanjaya Malakar, while maybe naive at first, has quickly understood how things work: provide a good circus and people will cast their vote for you, and that is that. "Sanjaya is the perfect American Idol for a society where fame trumps integrity, talent, intelligence," wrote mensnewsdaily.com .Well, unfortunately that's not how things work in entertainment only. That's pretty much how things work overall, and it's not just the United States. So, maybe votefortheworst.com , after Sanjaya wins or barely loses the 'Idol' crown, should launch a new campaign, with the new elections coming up: sanjayaforpresident.com ." Another week of Sanjaya, and this is great, because Sanjaya is now tied with Scott Savol and Kellie Pickler for longest running VFTW American Idol pick. If we can get him through next week, he'll be the all time record holder. And next week is Latin week. Sanjaya, please sing Shake Your Bon Bon. Please. We'll bake some cookies," their site reads. Meanwhile, Glocksen’s elimination on this week of "American Idol" was definitely a shock for her. "At no point in time on Tuesday night or before I went to bed on Tuesday or preparing for Wednesday night, did I think that I’d be going home," says Gina to Access Hollywood."Gina couldn’t seem to understand that this show is all about catering to people’s expectations. Of course, they’re usually crap and there is no reason why you should cater to them – unless you’d like to win the competition," as quite nicely has put it BC Magazine."I thought that I had a really good performance on Tuesday, and I was really proud of the song that I chose and the way that I chose to present it. I didn’t even have a chance to be in the bottom three ever, and the one time that I was, I’m going home. So it was pretty hard," Gina said."At the end of the day, you just don’t know what America wants. You don’t know if it’s based on talent, personality, if you have exactly what they’re looking for in your style, your hair, your clothes. But you just have to just stay true to yourself and make sure that you stay focused on what you’re there for, and that’s vocal talent.""It's almost like someone died here," said Gina's former co-worker Kim Pierzchalski to NapervilleSun. "It's just sad because I can't figure out why she would go before some of the others," said former co-worker Angel Sherlund. "My 6-year-old daughter was crying all night, and she even asked, 'How come Sanjaya won? He's terrible.'"
