CHRIS ROCK FILES FOR DNA TEST

Chris Rock has asked a court to determine whether he is the father of a teenage boy alleged to be his. The comic star has filed papers seeking to settle the paternity dispute started by journalist Kali Bowyer - who claims her 13-year-old son is the result of a fling with the star. According to papers filed by Rock's attorney to the Bulloch County Superior Court on Monday, Chris "desires to contribute to the support, maintenance, and education" of the child if it is proved he is the father. Brett Kimmel, Bowyer's lawyer, said his client is "looking forward to establishing that Mr. Rock is the father of their son and bringing the case to a swift conclusion". Kimmel did not comment on the nature of Bowyer's relationship with 'Bad Company' actor, nor why she waited 13 years to file a paternity claim. It has been reported that Bowyer unsuccessfully approached Rock privately on the matter for several years. Rock, 42, has been married to Malaak Compton since November 1996. The couple have two daughters, Lola Simone, four, and Zahra Savannah, who will turn three in May.

Mel B was "distraught" after her new baby underwent a DNA test to prove Eddie Murphy is the father. The former Spice Girl was reportedly devastated when ex-lover Eddie failed to get in touch after she gave birth to Fortuna Daphne Bay nearly two weeks ago. The procedure for the paternity test is now underway and Mel is determined to prove her daughter's parentage. A source told Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper: "She is distraught that her baby has been subjected to the DNA-testing procedure. "She can't believe it's come to this and that Eddie hasn't just admitted the child is his. "This last week should have been an incredible time for Mel, but it's been emotionally overwhelming and she's been constantly in tears. The DNA test was the last straw and she's gearing up to fight back. She's a strong-willed woman and will fight to the end." Earlier this week, Mel, 31, named Eddie as the father on Fortuna's birth certificate and has hired a top lawyer in preparation for a lengthy court battle. Mel enjoyed a whirlwind romance with Eddie before it ended abruptly late last year. The 'Dreamgirls' actor began dating producer Tracey Edmonds shortly after the split and claimed in an interview on Dutch TV he didn't know who the baby belonged to. A source said: "Eddie and Fortuna look very much alike and Mel wants to let everyone know that Eddie has to take his responsibilities as a father seriously."

Anna Nicole Smith's companion Howard K. Stern won't challenge paternity rival Larry Birkhead for custody of the tragic model's child if the photographer is named the baby's biological father. A DNA test was carried out last month and results are expected to be released Tuesday. Sources tell TMZ.com that Stern, who has been acting as baby Dannielynn's guardian since her mother died in February, won't challenge Birkhead's custody claim if he wins the paternity battle. The source says, "If Larry Birkhead is confirmed to be Dannielynn's biological father, Howard will not challenge custody. His love for her will not change, irrespective of the results. "Howard will act in Dannielynn's best interest, because he loves her and would want a smooth transition to protect her, as she is deeply bonded to those who have been with her since birth. "Howard will do whatever is necessary to assist Larry Birkhead to defeat any effort by (Smith's estranged mother) Virgie Arthur to obtain custody of Dannielynn."
Arthur, a former police officer, is currently fighting Stern for custody of her granddaughter.
