'Rocket Man' Elton John has vowed to tone down his outrageous fashion, as he is now "too old" to wear flamboyant outfits. The star is well known for his wild and crazy stage outfits, which have been featured throughout his very long music career. The rock legend insists that now he is over 60, it is time to adopt more conservative clothes. He told Television host Larry King, "I’m 61 years of age next month and, you know, I don’t dress as flamboyant as I used to. There are certain things I don’t do anymore. "I feel like, you know, as you get older, you change the way you think, the way you dress. I always liked to dress a little differently from other people, but, you know, I’m nowhere near the fashion victim that I was a long time ago."Labels: ELTON JOHN, GOSSIP, JAMES EDSTROM
Sir Elton John wants the Internet shut down because it is destroying music. The 'Candle in the Wind' singer believes cyberspace is stifling creativity and lowering the standards of popular music. He told Britain's The Sun newspaper: "The Internet has stopped people from going out and being with each other from creating stuff. "Instead people sit at home and make their own records, which doesn't bode well for long-term artistic vision. "Hopefully the next movement in music will tear down the Internet. It would be great to see the Internet shut down for five years and see what sort of art is produced over that span. I'm sure, as far as music goes, it would be much more interesting than it is today." Despite describing himself as a "technophobe", Elton has previously used the Internet to his own advantage. His 60th birthday concert at New York's Madison Square Garden in March this year was streamed live over the web. Elton has also made his entire back catalogue available for digital download. However, he remains convinced the Internet is responsible for slipping standards in the music world. He said: "In the early 70s there were at least ten albums released every week that were fantastic. Now you're lucky to find ten albums a year of that quality."Labels: ELTON JOHN, GOSSIP, INTERNET, JAMES EDSTROM

Sir Elton John is set to demolish part of his mansion and build a huge art gallery in its place. The flamboyant singer has an extensive art collection worth tens of millions of pounds which has now outgrown his homes in England, America and France. Elton has applied to his local council for permission to knock down a huge garage block at his UK Windsor mansion so he can replace it with a gallery to display his entire art collection. The council has informed the 'Rocket Man' singer his application is likely to be approved. Elton recently added to his collection of homes after buying a $2.6 million apartment in Los Angeles' exclusive Sierra Towers. The superstar's new two bedroom Sunset Boulevard property is thought to be on the building's 20th floor, and features amazing views all the way to the Pacific Ocean.Labels: ART GALLERY, ELTON JOHN, GOSSIP, JAMES EDSTROM, MANSION
Sir Elton John will sing 'Candle in the Wind' at Princess Diana's memorial concert this summer. The star will perform the reworked version for the first time since the princess' funeral in 1997, despite vowing to never play it in public again. A source said: "It would be a very fitting end to a very special day." Sir Elton - who was a close friend of Diana's - originally wrote the song in 1973 as a tribute to late Hollywood icon Marilyn Monroe. He changed the lyrics in honor of Diana following her tragic death in a Paris car crash in August 1997. 'Rocket Man' singer Elton, 60, will join a host of stars confirmed to take part in the Diana memorial concert, taking place at London's Wembley Stadium on July 1, which would have been the princess's 46th birthday. Lily Allen, Duran Duran, Joss Stone and Rod Stewart are among acts set to perform at the five-hour event. Diana's sons Princes William, 24, and Harry, 22, have been planning the concert since last year.Labels: ELTON JOHN, GOSSIP, JAMES EDSTROM, MUSIC, PRINCESS DIANA, TRIBUTE

Natasha Bedingfield was also added to the bill this morning along with Status Quo, Orson, The Feeling and James Morrison. It has still not known whether band Take That will perform on the night. Organizers are reportedly trying to convince Dire Straits - another of Diana's favorite acts - to appear, while the Spice Girls are also rumored to be reuniting for the concert. Diana's sons Princes William and Harry have personally approved all the acts for the show - which takes place on what would have been their mother's 46th birthday.Labels: CONCERT, ELTON JOHN, GOSSIP, JAMES EDSTROM, LILY ALLEN, PRINCESS DIANA
