EVA MENDES LEAVES REHAB FOR SPIRIT

Hollywood actress Eva Mendes left her rehab to present the Best Supporting Actress prize with Aaron Eckhart at the Film Independent Spirit Awards yesterday. The event was the stars first public appearance since she checked into rehab for an undisclosed issue last month. Looking fresh and happy, the actress, who refused to walk the red carpet at the event, made no mention of her personal problems. There also was a moving tribute to dead Hollywood star Heath Ledger by filmmaker Todd Haynes, who said he was "shattered" by Ledger's "inconceivable absence".

EVA MENDES HAPPY NAKED WITH PETA

Beautiful Eva Mendes is happy to be back in favor with the fur activists at People For The Ethical Treatment Of Animals after upsetting them with a fur coat faux-pas. The actress is PETA’s latest poster girl, baring all for a saucy new ‘I’d Rather Go Naked… Than Wear Fur’ campaign, shot in New York City. Mendes even admits she was more than happy to strip for the billboard, which she unveiled in Los Angeles on Thursday, after learning she was off PETA officials’ naughty list, where she landed after wearing a fur coat to a 2003 movie premiere. She said, "I was so floored by what they said that I said, ‘I promise I will never do it again.’" Mendes actually likes the idea of appearing naked on huge billboards in America’s leading cities. She tells online blogger Marc Malkin, "It’s very tasteful. It’s all in fun. It’s got a flirtatious, fun spirit about it. It’s not like come hither or anything like that."

EVA MENDES HAS NEW YORK NUDE SHOOT

Eva Mendes has posed nude for PETA. The stunning 'We Own the Night' actress covers her breasts with her arms but shows her naked butt in the new photos which bear the slogan 'Fur? I'd rather go naked.' New York City police yesterday begged the animal rights organisation to keep details of the poster's unveiling in Rockefeller Park to a minimum, as they feared a "mob scene" of activists desperate to see the image. Eva said she was spurred to take action against fur-wearers after receiving a letter from PETA when she first started out in the film industry. She said: "I wasn't familiar with PETA early in my career. I remember having my first premiere in New York City and being so naive that I didn't have a coat with me. My stylist sent me a fur wrap for the evening and I ignorantly wore it. "PETA then wrote me a beautiful letter commenting on my less-than-educated choice. I was so impressed that I vowed to them and myself to never wear real fur on the red carpet or in my life again. "There are way too many amazing faux fur options out there for people to still be wearing real fur. I want people to know that there are options; that killing a poor animal and wearing it isn't cool. But respecting all life forms is cool. Very cool." Eva is following in the footsteps of Pamela Anderson, Alicia Silverstone, Kim Basinger and Christina Applegate by flashing her flesh for PETA.
