Former Baywatch star Pamela Anderson is joining forces with animal rights campaigners in a bid to free apes kept in "squalid’ captivity in the state of Florida. Anderson has written an open letter to Florida governor Charlie Crist, targeting ‘road-side zoos’ in the state, where she claims chimpanzees and other animals are kept in inadequate enclosures. The famous star warns a tragic accident, like the chimpanzee attack in Connecticut in February, that left a woman maimed, is just waiting to happen. Anderson, who is a regular supporter for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) - writes, "With so many frustrated great apes stewing in squalid facilities in Florida, it is only a matter of time before a similar tragedy strikes your state. PETA and I appeal to you to take action to prevent Florida’s roadside zoos from keeping great apes and to ensure that these intelligent primates are transferred to approved sanctuaries to live out the remainder of their lives in suitable surroundings." Amy Winehouse's hubby Blake Fielder Cicil is vowing to walk away from his troubled marriage, because he blames himself for introducing the Rehab singer to hard drugs. Fielder-Civil was freed from prison in early this month, after serving almost a year behind bars in relation to an attack on a pub landlord in 2006. As part of his early release deal, he checked into a rehabilitation facility in Surrey, south east England, in a bid to kick his drug addiction. But he fears Winehouse’s heavy dependence on drugs will lead her to a very early grave, and it’s all because of him. He tells Britain’s News of the World paper, "I made the biggest mistake of my life by taking heroin in front of her. I introduced her to heroin, crack cocaine and self-harming. I feel more than guilty."I dragged Amy into it and without me there is no doubt that she would never have gone down that road. I ruined something beautiful. Now I have to let her go to save her life. I am not abandoning her. I am doing this out of love." Fielder-Civil claims he only realized the extent of their drug use when Winehouse collapsed following a drinking and drugs binge at their north London home in August 2007, and almost died. He recalls, "I was there when Amy suffered her first seizure. I still break down thinking about it. We had been taking drugs all day long - heroin and crack."We started early and finished late. We didn’t really stop… and while I was getting out of my head, I wasn’t thinking that I was taking somebody with me.Then my wife… just started shaking violently in front of me. I started crying and I lay her down in the recovery position… It was heartbreaking, seeing someone you love more than yourself, someone you would die for… on the floor shaking." The image of Winehouse in such a terrible state will forever haunt Fielder-Civil: "I will go to my grave with that picture of Amy asking me, Who are you? Who are you?’ She didn’t know who I was. I told Amy, ‘I’m your husband.’ "I knew then that I had ruined something beautiful. It was all my fault. It was the worst thing that has ever happened to me in my life." And now Fielder-Civil insists he won’t be returning home to his beloved wife when he completes his rehab stint on December 30th, for her own good. He adds, "Now the most dignified thing I can ever do in my life is to release somebody I love from my f**king grasp, from my clutches."When I see pictures of Amy and the state she’s in it tears my heart out. I just want to pick her up and help her. But I can’t - because I’m the man who caused it all. It scares me to death that I can’t fix Amy. But for her recovery I have to leave her alone."I will never stop wanting Amy an loving her and craving her. More than anything I am addicted to Amy. I will do anything for her - and that includes walking away. If something bad happened to Amy now I would kill myself without a question."

There's something about the way she comes over on TV that does not do her justice. If you met her, you would love her. This election should be about experience and not about charisma. I have watched the debates and listened to all the sides. I am going to have a lot of powerful Republican friends telling me I'm crazy to support Hillary Clinton and some might even be pissed off at me. But the way I figure this whole election is, Hillary has the most experience and when she has some huge problem and needs advice, she also has husband Bill Clinton to give her guidance. I know the Clinton camp has been staying away from saying Bill could help when needed, but when Bill was in the White House, I bet he asked Hillary many times for her advice. So I believe when electing Hillary, we also are electing Bill. It's kinda of electing two Presidents. My millions of readers need to get to the polls tomorrow and cast their vote. We can't afford to risk this country to some new comer with very little experience. Obama may be a nice guy, but we need leadership now. Hillary Clinton is the person we need. BRITTANY MURPHY SET TO REPLACE LOHAN

POLICE CLEARED IN MEL GIBSON ARREST

An independent panel of investigators who reviewed the way police handled Mel Gibson’s 2006 drink-driving arrest has concluded nobody tried to cover the incident up. The mean drunk was taken into custody in July 2006 in Malibu, California after he was caught speeding on the Pacific Coast Highway. Police initially told the world’s media the arrest went "without incident" but leaked details suggested Gibson had verbally abused arresting officer James Mee with anti-Semitic remarks, which made Jewish groups go after the Hollywood loser. Three employees at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department have been disciplined for violating police policy in relation to Gibson’s arrest, but the Office Of Independent Review has concluded there was no deliberate cover-up. According to gossip website TMZ.com, the report reads: "Because of a concern about certain information gathered during the arrest falling prematurely into the hands of media sources and because there was no clear departmental guidance provided on how to handle this scenario presented, supervisors made spontaneous decisions with regard to how to package the information and describe the arrest. "While these decisions do no indicate a violation of department policy, and were fairly sensible, they do point out the need for creating a thoughtful and systematic approach for how to handle future similar scenarios."

A Canadian campaign group is asking for for the star of the hit Television show '24', actor Kiefer Sutherland to be removed from promoting Ford cars following his conviction for driving under the influence (DUI).The 40-year-old star is currently serving a 48-day sentence at the private Glendale City Jail in California after turning himself into Los Angeles police last Wednesday. Sutherland was handed the sentence after he was caught drink driving in September.And now advocacy group Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) wants Ford Motor Company in Canada to pull all TV advertisements which are voiced by Sutherland, because he needs to learn from his mistakes. Andrew Murie, chief executive of MADD Canada, says, "Ford Motor Company has a wonderful opportunity to send Mr. Sutherland a fairly strong message. "There should never be an excuse, when you can afford your own driver or your own limousine, to ever get into this situation. It astounds me that Mr. Sutherland would ever put himself in this position." But the car manufacturer is refusing to bow directly to pressure from MADD Canada.In a statement released on Friday the firm says: "While Ford of Canada currently has a contract with Kiefer Sutherland as the voice for some TV commercials, we are evaluating that position."Kiefer Sutherland is serving the sentence for his crime and we are glad it appears that he will attend education programs and receive therapy."

MADONNA'S TEAM FOR NEW DAUGHTER

Madonna has reportedly sent a team to Malawi to find her a new daughter. The 'Material Girl' singer - who adopted two-year-old son David Banda from the African country last year - is said to be desperate to find a little girl to bring home. Madonna - who also has an 11-year-old daughter Lourdes and a seven-year-old son Rocco - reportedly told staff: "Don't rest until you've found me my princess!" She has sent her aides to search the Malawi region of Salima for an orphan and has told them to draw up a shortlist of nine children whose families won't block the adoption. The pop superstar had planned to adopt a 20-month-old girl, Mercy, but was said to be devastated when her family blocked her application. Mercy's uncle, Peter Banet, said: "I'd rather be struggling with Mercy than for her to live with a big white star far away." A source added to Britain's The Sun newspaper: "Madonna is heartbroken about Mercy. She told everyone she was her new daughter and carried her picture around. All she dreams about is a sister for David." In August, it was reported Madonna was set to adopt Mercy and take her home to the UK next April. A source said at the time: "Madonna is ecstatic she has been told she can take Mercy home. She didn't want another complicated adoption. Mercy is a beautiful baby girl. She is so joyful and happy and giggles every time she is picked up. Madonna just loves the way she claps her hands and laughs constantly. She has huge eyes. Madonna calls her a smiling angel."

Singing star Carrie Underwood is terrified of being attacked when she returns to her former college in Oklahoma, because she was a figure of hate throughout her education there.The 24-year-old was so unpopular during her time at Northeastern State University, she fears students there may try to hurt her if she goes back to visit.She tells New York Daily News, "It’s scary, I don’t really get the warmest of receptions when I go back. I know somebody could come up and try to… hit me, hurt me, just to say they did it."

MEL B. PINCHES SPICE GIRLS BUTTS

Mel B pinches her fellow Spice Girls' butts on stage. Scary Spice is so excited about being reunited with her band mates - Emma Bunton, Mel C, Victoria Beckham and Geri Halliwell - she can't help but show her affection in her trademark outrageous fashion. Emma said: "Mel B has got this thing at the moment for pinching all of our bottoms - it really makes us giggle!" The blonde star, also known as Baby Spice, admitted there is one major disadvantage to not performing as a band for nine years - she keeps forgetting the lyrics to their famous songs. Emma added on the official Spice Girls blog: "With each show I'm getting more and more confident with singing live but during 'Mama' the other day I got so carried away looking at the video playing behind us of all the mother and babies that I forgot the lyrics!" The girls are currently in Los Angeles for the latest leg of their 'Return of the Spice Girls' tour.

Helena Bonham Carter claims her breasts swelled to the size of melons then shrivelled to tangerines in her new film. The actress fell pregnant during the filming of 'Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street', directed by her long-term partner Tim Burton, and revealed her breast size changed constantly in the final cut of the movie because it was filmed out of sequence. Helena told Playboy magazine: "Anyone who pays attention to my chest size will see there's no continuity. "The first half of filming I wasn't pregnant, and the second half I was, and because we didn't shoot it in order, I start off with huge breasts and then I walk upstairs and suddenly I've got tangerines again. It's melons to tangerines!" The 41-year-old actress, who already has a four-year-old son, Billy-Ray with Tim, is due to give birth this month. Helena plays Mrs. Lovett in 'Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street' which stars Johnny Depp as the murderous London barber. Johnny has revealed he was terrified of singing in the musical film and had to take lessons from his French singer wife Vanessa Paradis. He said: "I was more frightened than anyone, except maybe Tim Burton. "I've never sung before in my life, so I kept it very low key and recorded a demo in my friend's garage studio. The first person I played it for before Tim was Vanessa who gave me tips on singing, since she is a singer."

DANIEL CRAIG NUDE FOR NEXT BOND

Daniel Craig has vowed to "go totally nude" for the next Bond film. The hunky 39-year-old actor - who made his debut as suave spy James Bond in last year's 'Casino Royale' - insists it's only fair he appears naked when he reprises his role, because Bond girls are always expected to strip off. He said: "I'd go totally nude. I've got nothing to hide, and after all, we ask the girls to reveal almost all, so why not the men?" Daniel also revealed he felt "nervous" at the stir he caused in the now infamous 'Casino Royale' scene where he emerges from the sea in tight blue swimming trunks. He added to New! magazine: "Did I know the trunk thing would be such a big deal? Yeah. I saw it on a huge billboard in Hollywood and people were screaming. It did make me feel rather nervous." The star also branded his Bond co-star Dame Judi Dench - who plays spy boss M - "sexy as hell and a total tease".

OSBOURNE'S TO HOST THE BRIT AWARDS

Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne will host next year's BRIT Awards. BRITs bosses hope the 58-year-old rocker and his outspoken wife will bring a touch of "rock'n'roll, glamour, humour and the unexpected" to the ceremony on February 20 and the couple are "honoured" to have been chosen for the role. 'X Factor' judge Sharon, 55, said: "Ozzy and I have been asked to host many awards shows in the past but this is by far the most prestigious and meaningful, especially for Ozzy as it's about the music. "Ozzy and I are proud to be Brits and are both incredibly honoured to have been asked to help celebrate the best in music." The ceremony will broadcast live on ITV, but will have a five second delay to allow producers to bleep out the inevitable barrage of swearing from the notoriously foul-mouthed couple before the 9pm watershed. After 9pm, the ceremony will be screened completely live. It will be just the second time TV producers have taken the gamble since 1989, when hosts model Samantha Fox and Fleetwood Mac's Mick Fleetwood provided one of the most shambolic performances in the ceremony's history. The first time it was broadcast live since the fiasco was this year, when comic Russell Brand took over hosting duties. Despite being largely regarded as a success, Russell still sparked more than 500 complaints when he made risqué references to "intimate parts of the human body", drugs, Iraq and Queen Elizabeth and swore before the watershed. It has also been reported organisers for next year's event are desperately trying to get troubled 'Rehab' singer Amy Winehouse to perform at the glitzy ceremony. Other acts expected to take to the stage at London's Earls Court include Take That, Rihanna, Kate Nash and the Klaxons.

HULK HOGAN IS GETTING BODY SLAMMED

Wrestling legend Hulk Hogan is being divorced by his wife. Linda Marie Bollea, 46, filed divorce papers at Pinellas County court on Tuesday after 24 years of marriage. Hulk - real name Terry Gene Bollea - heard the news from a reporter on Friday. The star thanked the journalist for the "great information", then called back five minutes later and said: "I'm kind of shocked. You caught me off-guard. My wife has been in California for about three weeks. "Holy smokes. Wow, you just knocked the bottom out of me. I just pulled over to the side of the road for five minutes to find out what was going on here." The 53-year-old former WWE and WCW wrestler married Linda in 1983 and the couple have two children, 19-year-old daughter Brooke, an aspiring singer, and 17-year-old son Nick. The family starred together in VH1 reality show 'Hogan Knows Best'. Son Nick lost his driver's licence last week after being found guilty of dangerous driving. Earlier this year Nick was behind the wheel during a street-racing crash which left his passenger in a coma with a broken skull. Hulk is arguably the most famous wrestler of all time, and also starred in a number of movies including 'Rocky III', 'Suburban Commando' and 'Mr. Nanny'.

TAKE THAT STAR DEMANDS POT BE LEGAL

Take That star Howard Donald has demanded "cannabis be legalised". The 39-year-old singer sparked outrage by insisting the drug is less harmful than alcohol, and believes if everyone got "stoned" the world would be a better place. Howard - who is recovering after his lung collapsed while on tour in Milan in October - said: "Cannabis should be legalised. "If more people went out stoned than drunk I think there would be less fighting, less trouble, and less violence." But anti-drugs campaigners have slammed the pop star's "irresponsible" claims as "rubbish", because cannabis use can trigger serious mental illness. Gail McCann, of Mothers Against Drugs, said: "Anyone who can tell you cannabis is safe is talking rubbish. It can cause psychosis and paranoia. "I'd like Take That to see the work we do and ask if they'd like to donate some of the millions they earn to drug treatment." It is not the first time Howard has spoken openly about drugs. He previously admitted: "As a band we dabbled with ecstasy and liked the odd spliff, but who doesn't?" Howard's bandmate Gary Barlow has previously admitted to regular cannabis use. Last year, Gary said: "In 2000 when I was dropped as a solo artist I was smoking 15 spliffs a day. "At the end of the night, I would smoke only half my last joint so when I woke up I could have the other half before reality set in." The band - which is also made up of Mark Owen and Jason Orange, and Robbie Williams before he left in 1995 - sold 25 million records worldwide in the early 1990s before splitting in 1996. Last year, they reunited for a hugely successful world tour and hit comeback album 'Beautiful World'.
