WINONA RYDER'S NEW MOVIE ROLE

Winona Ryder's latest role is based on the Biblical Commandment "Thou shalt not steal". The 'A Scanner Darkly' star - who was famously convicted of shoplifting in 2001 - plays a woman who falls in love with and steals a ventriloquist's dummy in 'The Ten', a satirical take on the Bible's Ten Commandments. The film's co-writer Ken Marino said: "It truly was a coincidence the 'Thou shalt not steal' thing. It was pointed out to us after she told us she would do it." Liev Schreiber appears in a sequence based on the rule "Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's goods", playing a police detective who covets his neighbour's CAT scan machine. 'The Ten' premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and those involved do not think the comedic twists on the Commandments will offend religious groups. Director and co-writer David Wain said: "It's just silly comedy. We're not making any statement about anything." 'Fantastic Four' beauty Jessica Alba also stars in the film as the mistress in the sketch based on "Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife".

Mel Gibson has sold his Malibu mansion for $30 million. The 'Braveheart' star made a profit of $6 million on the six bedroom beachfront property, having bought it for $24 million just two years ago. The sale, to an unnamed bidder, comes just weeks after Gibson sold his 28-room Connecticut mansion for $41 million. The singer was awarded joint custody of sons Sean Preston and Jayden James with ex-husband Kevin Federline at a court hearing on Monday. But attorney Laura Wasser has ordered the court documents to "be sealed" as their contents could effect the kids’ safety. Wesser says, "Such information greatly increases the chances that the actions of the media could threaten the safety of the minor children by, for example, causing a traffic accident or by exposing the minor children to criminals who might target the minor children for financial gain." The judge granted Wasser’s motion to withhold the documents pending a full hearing next month.

But according to their representatives Del Toro, Nolte and Hartnett are no longer involved with the film. Eccentric alcoholic Thompson created Gonzo journalism in the 1970s. The style of reporting involves the journalist becoming so involved in events they themselves become central figures in the story. He committed suicide in February 2005 aged 67. On August 20 that year Depp financed a private ceremony, according to Thompson's wishes, in which the writer's ashes were fired from a cannon in Aspen to the tune of Bob Dylan's 'Mr. Tambourine Man'. PIERCE BROSNAN NEW CARTOON VOICE

Pierce Brosnan is to be the new voice of Thomas the Tank Engine. The 54-year-old actor - who played suave spy James Bond for seven years - will narrate the popular children's TV series 'Thomas and Friends', based on Reverend W.V. Awdry's books about a busy railway station on the Island of Sodor. Pierce is the latest in a long-line of distinguished talents, including former Beatle Ringo Starr, Alec Baldwin and Michael Brandon, to take on the role since the TV series first aired in 1984. Brosnan said: "One of my fondest memories as a father was sharing the stories of 'Thomas the Tank Engine' and watching the series with my children when they were young. "I am thrilled by the opportunity to be the narrator for this beloved series, following in the shoes of so many famous names and helping introduce 'Thomas and Friends' to many more generations of children." Pierce has signed up with production company HIT Entertainment to narrate three TV series and three DVD specials. The actor has already started recording his first show 'Thomas and Friends: The Great Discovery', which will be released on DVD in 2008. Sienna Miller has split from her lover Jamie Burke. The couple, who have been dating for eight months, reportedly decided to part ways following a series of heated rows. Musician Jamie was said to have been "furious" with the 'Layer Cake' actress for partying with P. Diddy after the Concert for Diana earlier this month. The couple, who have conflicting work schedules, were also said to be struggling to maintain a long-distance relationship A source said: "Things have been difficult for a while now. He is based in New York and she is mostly in London. They are both so busy that they just don't get to spend much time with each other. "They couldn't make it work, so they split." Jamie, who fronts rock band Bloody Social, recently complained he was tired of only being known as Sienna's boyfriend. Sienna has just finished filming new Dylan Thomas movie 'The Edge of Love' in Wales and recently launched the clothing range 2812 with her sister Savannah. Sienna, 26, and P. Diddy, 37, first sparked romance rumours in January when they were seen partying in New York, before heading back to her hotel. However, the hip-hop star was quick to quash speculation the pair were anything more than friends, saying at the time: "I was just being a gentleman and dropping her off." The pair sparked fresh speculation on July 1 after Sienna went to the rapper 's post-Concert for Diana party at London nightclub Paper. Sienna and Diddy were together almost all evening and moved to a private area of the club to relax behind a curtain. Diddy's relationship with Kim Porter - his on/off partner for 10 years - also ended this month. Kim - who has three children with the hip-hop mogul - said the split was for the best. Sienna's representative has denied she is romancing Diddy, saying: "Reports of Sienna being linked with P. Diddy are categorically untrue."

A source told Life and Style Weekly magazine: "Britney told one of the managers, 'I really want to get a job here - I love the sexy red corsets the cocktail waitresses wear!' and he said 'Well, you should fill out an application then!' "She filled out the application, including her work history, address, social security number, and then she went to a back room for an interview with the manager. "Everyone thought she was joking, but she seemed dead serious." Britney is reportedly preparing to release a new single called 'Get Back'. The 25-year-old singer is said to preparing to release her first song since 2005 in the next few weeks and has a "surprising" new sound. A source said: "It's a very new sound for her. I think people will be surprised."

She said: "We are all so excited about moving. The boys actually think they're moving to Disneyland!" The family's move has been documented for a one-hour NBC TV special, 'Victoria Beckham: Coming to America' - which is due to air on July 16 just days before David's Galaxy debut on July 21. Victoria, 33, agreed to be filmed so she could "show everybody" how "incredibly blessed" she is. She added: "It's funny. People will get to see what I'm really like. I have quite a dry sense of humor, which I hope is going to translate to Americans." Victoria, also known as Posh Spice, revealed why she agreed to a Spice Girls reunion world tour, which kicks off in Los Angeles on December 7. She said: "I want my kids to see mommy on the stage doing what I used to do and I want David to see it again. He is actually going to come on tour with me, because it starts when his soccer commitments end."

Rowling not to end the hugely successful series.The seventh book, 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows', is due to be released later this month and Rowling insists it will be the last.Two characters will also be killed off in the book - with wizard Harry being one of the favourites to die. However, British bookstore Waterstone's are urging fans to sign their petition to help save the teenage sorcerer. The petition, which can be found at www.waterstones.com/saveharry, reads: "We, the undersigned, petition J.K. Rowling to write more new adventures for Harry Potter and his friends no matter what happens at the end of 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows'." Waterstone's spokesperson Wayne Winstone added: "We're not asking J.K Rowling to start another novel tomorrow we're just asking that she doesn't rule it out." Meanwhile, Daniel Radcliffe - who plays Harry in the film versions of the books - fears his character will be killed off. He said: "I think I might die in the final book. That's just my prediction. I think so, but I've no idea at all - I have no inside hints!"

Britney also reportedly hired a private investigator to record phone calls between Lynne and the singer's estranged husband Kevin Federline In one conversation, Lynne is said to arrange to meet Kevin and the boys, saying: "I have to be careful that Britney doesn't find out!" Britney is also said to have presented Lynne with a hate-filled poem. A source said: "In the poem, titled 'Dear Mama', she wrote that she didn't have a mom anymore and she couldn't imagine a mother doing what she did to her child. "Britney gave the poem to her mom and said, 'Here Momma, I just wanted to see your face.' "Then she got into her car and drove off. Lynne went into the trailer and broke down in tears."
