LIEV SCHREIBER GIVES NAOMI WATTS DIAMOND RING WITH BABY PICTURE

Liev Schreiber has given fiancée Naomi Watts a diamond locket to keep a picture of their new son in. Naomi gave birth to Alexander Pete Schreiber, who weighed a healthy 8lbs 4oz, at a Los Angeles hospital last Thursday. On the same day, Liev presented the 'King Kong' star with a diamond-and-platinum heart locket he had specially designed by jeweller Neil Lane so she can carry a photo of their new arrival everywhere she goes. A source told In Touch Weekly magazine: "It was a very special gift for her. Liev secretly helped the jeweller Neil to design it." Alexander was born almost two weeks prematurely and friends believe Naomi may have gone into labour early because she was determined to have a natural birth. One pal said: "Naomi's due date was early August, but since she insisted on delivering naturally she knew there was a chance she would have the baby before the due date. That's what wound up happening."

Naomi Watts and fiancé Liev Schreiber have become parents for the first time. The actress gave birth to a healthy baby boy at a Los Angeles hospital yesterday. Mother and baby, who weighed 8lbs 4oz, are both said to be doing well. The couple have named the new arrival Alexander Pete Schreiber. The tot was almost two weeks early and friends say Naomi was determined to have a natural labour. One pal said: "Naomi was planning on giving birth next week - her due date was early August - but since she insisted on delivering naturally, she knew there was a chance she would have the baby before the due date. That's what wound up happening." Naomi and Liev threw an intimate baby shower on Saturday with an afternoon gathering at their Los Angeles home. Despite baby showers usually being female-only events, Liev was among the 15 guests, who also included actresses Kate Hudson and Carla Gugino. Liev, 39, recently revealed that Naomi was having an "amazing" pregnancy. He said: "She's great. She hasn't had any strange cravings. In fact, I've never seen anyone handle a pregnancy so well. She's amazing." The couple, who starred in 'The Painted Veil' together, announced the pregnancy in February this year.

Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber are to marry in the next few months - before their baby is due.The couple, who were planning to tie the knot after Naomi gives birth, have now decided they want to walk down the aisle as soon as possible so they are husband and wife before the tot enters the world in late summer. A source told In Touch Weekly magazine: "There's not enough time to plan a big wedding, so they are just going to have an intimate ceremony. They'll have just 25 guests for the nuptials in Naomi's hometown of Sydney, Australia, with a lavish wedding reception for all their stateside friends after the baby is born."So far, Naomi's representative has declined to comment on the rumoured wedding. Naomi and Liev first started dating in May 2005. The baby will be the couple's first child.
