POP STAR LILY ALLEN PLANS TO STAY SOBER

Lily Allen

Pop singing star Lily Allen is confirming that she has been sober since September, saying she has given up alcohol and drugs for the foreseeable future. The star is due to release her new album, "It's Not Me, It's You," in February and has quit her wild lifestyle to focus on her music. And although Allen is admitting she won't be able to keep up her good behavior forever, she is happy to stay away from the London party circuit right now because she fears becoming known as another drunk celebrity. She says, "I've become a character in a comic ... and that character is always drunk! I wish my comic character wasn't that. "(I have been sober) since September 22nd. I have no intention of taking drugs again at the moment. But I can't say 'Never again', because I don't know where I'll be in 10 years' time. And I will definitely drink in the future, just not for a while."

LILY ALLEN DENIES AUDIENCE WALKOUT

Pop singer Lily Allan is defending her new television show and is insisting the studio audience only left halfway through the show because recording ran over. The new television host was taping her new program Lily And Friends at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire, England on Friday, but was hit by a string of problems including a broken teleprompter which left her reading from handwritten cue cards. And it had been reported that members of the audience were so disappointed with her performance that they got up and left before the cameras finished rolling. But Allen has accused the media of concocting the stories and insists people only left because recording went on for longer than expected. She writes on her Myspace Internet page, "My TV show recording went really well on Friday, I was s**tting it but I’m really happy with the results and the audience were great, standing in a hot studio for two hours watching me fluff my lines is not my idea of fun, but they seemed to enjoy it . "Thank you to the ever supportive (British tabloid newspaper) Mail on Sunday for their glittering and rave review of the recording, they insinuated a third of the audience left because they were bored of the content of the show, when infact, due to it being the first show we’ve done we ran over a little and naturally a small number of the audience had to catch the last trains back to wherever they came from . "I can’t imagine the " undercover journalist " who broke into the studio ever had the intention of being positive about it though, obviously."

SINGER LILY ALLEN TO HOST CHAT SHOW

Singer Lily Allen

Lily Allen is to host her own TV series. The 'Smile' singer has signed a deal with British satellite channel BBC Three to host her own chat show. The program will feature a studio audience comprised solely of people listed as friends on Lily's MySpace web page - which she used to publicize her music at the beginning of her career and which now attracts thousands of visitors to read her blogs. As well as featuring interviews with celebrities, the show will also include performances by unsigned bands and musicians who will be selected by the audience. Viewers will then be able to track the progress of the acts via a special website and online social network which are being created for the series. Lily admits she is thrilled to have been given the opportunity to front her own TV show and can't wait to get started. She said: "I'm so excited. It's something I intend to have lots of fun with and I have some great ideas." The as yet untitled series is set to air in early 2008.

LILY ALLEN TO START RECORD LABEL

Lily Allen is set to launch her own record label. The 'Smile' singer - who shot to fame with her forthright views and quirky personality which she showcased on social networking website MySpace - is hoping to find and nurture fresh British talent. Lily's spokesman confirmed: "A record label is definitely something she is looking at." The diminutive pop star - who recently parted ways with her management company Empire Management after her attempt to break the US failed - was also partly responsible for making 'Foundations' songstress Kate Nash a success. A friend of Lily's said: "Lily spotted Kate Nash a while ago, and used her contacts in the industry to give her some exposure. She also encouraged Kate to use MySpace as a tool to get her music out there, and to write blogs to her fans." The 22-year-old singer - who has just signed up to play Lydia Bennett in a spoof film version of Jane Austen's 'Pride and Prejudice' - is also working on a second clothing collection for high street store New Look, is in talks for a new TV show, and was launched as the face of Braun's Satin hair straighteners last month.

STAR LILY ALLEN ON FASHION DESIGNERS

Pop singer turned-fashion designer LILY ALLEN has waded into the size zero debate, blaming the stick thin trend on "irresponsible" fashion editors. The Smile singer unveiled her collection of prom dresses shoes and funky accessories at British high street chain New Look on Tuesday and is using her new career title to legitimize an attack on the fashion industry. She says, "Fashion editors can f**k off. Lots of them are responsible for the skinny issue. If fashion editors put bigger models in their magazines, then maybe girls wouldn’t be sticking their fingers down their throats so much."It makes me so angry, they should think more about what they’re doing to the younger generation."It’s in the magazines’ and advertisers’ interests to make girls want to be skinny and feel s**t about themselves because then they will go out and buy their products. It’s just another part of the capitalist, materialistic, evil world that we live in."
