Filmmaker and director Guy Ritchie is breaking his silence over reports his marriage to pop singer Madonna is in trouble, insisting everything is just fine. The famous couple have been under intense media scrutiny in the past few weeks, amid rumors they are on the verge of a divorce. Madonna has also come under fire for her close friendship with famed baseball star Alex Rodriguez, with the sportsman's estranged wife alleging she had an "affair of the heart" with Rodriguez. However, appearing at the San Diego International Comic-Con event in California on Thursday, director Ritchie appeared happy and content, reports People.com.When asked by reporters whether things are going well in his marriage, he replied, "As far as I'm aware of."Ritchie is currently busy promoting his upcoming action film "RocknRolla," which was filmed in his hometown of London. He openly chatted about viewing the British capital through the eyes of Madonna, who moved from the U.S. to the U.K. when the pair wed in 2000. He said, "I was born there and I've seen it change and I know a great deal about it, I'm invested. I live vicariously through my wife, so I was once a spy and now I've become a tourist, and it's much more fun to live in London as a tourist than it is as a spy."Someone told me the definition was a spy always looks for the bad stuff, and a tourist always looks for the good stuff. So that makes it easy, being married to an American."Labels: GOSSIP, GUY RICHIE, JAMES EDSTROM, MADONNA

Singing star Madonna would never trade the pressures of fame for a life outside, because she loves being a celebrity. The pop superstar appeared on The Today Show this morning to discuss her film I Am Because We Are, a documentary following the struggles of children orphaned by AIDS in Malawi - the birthplace of the star’s adopted son David Banda. When asked if she hoped she would one day fade out of the limelight, the pop singer told host Ann Curry, "Yeah I have moments of it. But I don’t want to wish that I’m not me. I don’t wish I was someone else." She added, "My reinventions are part of my evolution and my growth as a person. There are aspects of it that are frivolous and aspects of it that are real". But she hopes "that my soul reached its full potential and that I did everything that I was put on this earth to do". I Am Because We Are premiered at New York’s Tribeca Film Festival Yesterday.Labels: GOSSIP, JAMES EDSTROM, MADONNA
Singing star Madonna has compared Britney Spears' plight to the suffering people of Africa, calling the press coverage of her problems a "terrible infliction of cruelty."The legend, who famously kissed Spears during a performance at the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards, wants the paparazzi to stop following the 26-year-old, because it's distressing to see her life documented in such detail. And the 49-year-old spots similarities between Spears and downtrodden Africans.
She tells MSNBC.com, "It's very painful (seeing pictures of Spears). When you think about the way people treat each other in Africa, about witchcraft and people inflicting cruelty and pain on each other, then come back here and, you know, people taking pictures of people when they're in their homes, being taken to hospitals, or suffering, and selling them, getting energy from them, that's a terrible infliction of cruelty."So who's worse off? You know what I mean?" Earlier this year, Spears lost the right to visit her sons Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 1, after a breakdown at her Beverly Hills mansion. She has also spent time in a rehabilitation center and has been plagued by driving offenses including a stay at a mental hospital in California.

Singing superstar Madonna is so sick of singing her ’80s classics Holiday and Like A Virgin, it would take a rich Russian "with $30 million" to tempt her to perform the famous songs again. The 49-year-old singer is rumored to be heading out on tour this year to promote her new album Hard Candy, which will hit stores in April. And Madonna is already warning fans she won’t be revisiting her old classics. In an interview with New York radio station Z-100 FM, due to air tomorrow, the Material Girl says, "I’m not sure I can sing Holiday or Like A Virgin ever again."I just can’t - unless somebody paid me like $30 million or something. Pop superstar Madonna and Hubby Guy Richie went out together in London yesterday in a bid to dispel rumors that their marriage is in trouble. The couple had a romantic meal at Harry’s Bar and was the first time they had been seen in public together since a family vacation to India in January. Gossip reached a highpoint last week when Madonna was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in New York without Ritchie by her side prompting the singer’s long term publicist Liz Rosenberg to speak out. Rosenberg told reporters on Monday,"I am delighted to confirm that Mr. and Mrs. Guy Ritchie remain happily married. "Though they were in different countries recently - Madonna in the U.S. doing promotion for her upcoming album Hard Candy and Guy finishing up post production on his new film RocknRolla, as well as completing a Nike commercial and working on several scripts in England - the family are joyfully back together at home in London."All is well and wonderful in the Ritchie household."Labels: GOSSIP, JAMES EDSTROM, MADONNA

Music Icon Madonna is reportedly furious after details of her "secret" Indian holiday were leaked to the press. The singer allegedly cancelled her visit to Jaisalmer when word of her intended visit to the city became public. She is also said to have sacked her local drivers and hired new vehicles in a fresh bid to keep all her plans private. The Material Girl and her husband Guy Ritchie with their three children and five friends were alleged to have travelled from the Maldives to the historic city of Jodhpur on New Year’s Eve. They had hoped to visit Jaisalmer on Tuesday, but were forced to change plans because of the expected media frenzy. Labels: GOSSIP, JAMES EDSTROM, MADONNA

Madonna has started eating porridge in a bid to put on weight. The 49-year-old singer - who usually follows a strict macrobiotic diet - has decided to pile on a few pounds to please husband Guy Ritchie, who was worried she had become too thin and gaunt Madonna took advice from Sting's wife Trudi Styler, who suggested eating a filling breakfast could help improve her skin and take 10 years off her appearance. A source said: "Guy prefers his wife when she looks girly and feminine. He's not a fan of her more aggressive, super-toned and muscular look, which is why she has softened her image. "She used to start the day with a miso soup and a fruit smoothie but found porridge improved her skin and keeps her full for longer. She eats it after her daily exercise regime. But she has also been cutting back on the gym and weights, in favour of Pilates, which is why her arms look less sinewy." Earlier this week, Madonna sparked facelift rumors after she was spotted leaving a medical centre with two black eyes. The 'Material Girl' singer masked her eyes with over sized black sunglasses as she left the New York building but the dark purple bruising was still visible. Cosmetic operations on the eyes or nose can leave the patient with bruises. However, Madonna has always denied going under the knife.Labels: GOSSIP, JAMES EDSTROM, MADONNA

Madonna has hired a male nanny to look after adopted son. The pop superstar was looking for someone to care for 23-month-old David Banda and when she realised there were no suitable female candidates, she decided to employ a 'manny'. The man will live in Madonna's luxurious London home along with the singer's husband Guy Ritchie and her other children, Lourdes, 10, and seven-year-old Rocco. However, he has been told he will only be caring for David, who Madonna adopted from a Malwai orphanage last October. The 'Hung Up' singer has also reportedly given her 'manny' strict house rules, which include no sex, no watching TV and no newspapers or magazines. A source told Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper: "Madonna is very strict with her rules for whoever looks after her children as she wants the best standards for them. "He will be a live-in nanny and need to be available 24/7. He has been given specific instructions never to bring a girlfriend back to the house and not to bring home any women younger than 30. "She has also banned him from watching TV in the house, having a TV in his room and reading newspapers or magazines at home." Madonna's former nanny, Melissa Duma, wrote an explosive book about her one-time employer, claiming her marriage to Guy was on the rocks, the couple are money-obsessed and live on extremely strict diets. However, the 49-year-old singer successfully stopped the book from being released.Labels: GOSSIP, JAMES EDSTROM, MADONNA
Madonna insists her adoption of David Banda is going smoothly. The pop superstar's representative Liz Rosenberg has slammed reports the permanent adoption is in trouble, following rumors her assessment visit has been cancelled. Rosenberg said: "The adoption process is going along very well and according to proper procedure. It's not true that David may be sent back." Government official Penstone Kilembe - who was due to visit Madonna and her husband Guy Ritchie to assess their suitability to adopt the two-year-old - has been banned from travelling to Madonna's London home following accusations he obtained expenses from the singer without government approval. However, sources insist Madonna followed all the proper procedures to adopt David permanently and never offered Kilembe money or flight tickets. A source told Us Weekly magazine: "Madonna is not one of those people who gives out airline tickets. She doesn't really give out anything for free. She definitely followed all proper procedures in this case and didn't give him the plane fare or money for expenses." Kilembe denied he obtained money from the star and claims cancelling his visit could threaten Madonna's chances of keeping David, saying: "What this means is that the whole adoption process may crumble and David could be sent back to his village." Kilembe was due to spend five days with Madonna and Guy at their London home to quiz the couple on a series of "sensitive questions". The Malawian high court was relying on his testimony to make a decision on whether Madonna's adoption should be formalised in a hearing next year. David has been living with Madonna since he left Malawi last October.Labels: GOSSIP, JAMES EDSTROM, MADONNA

Madonna reportedly had a furious row with a female crew member on the set of husband Guy Ritchie's new film after she called the singer's adopted son a "lucky b*****d". The pop superstar, who had taken two-year-old Malawian boy David Banda to watch Guy's movie 'RocknRolla' being shot in east London, was infuriated when she overheard two crew members discussing David. One of them asked the other what the little boy's name was, to which the girl reportedly replied: "Lucky b*****d." A source told Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper: "Madonna looked astonished by what was said and words were exchanged between them. "She seemed very protective of her son and didn't want anyone talking of him in such a manner. "She looked really hurt and shocked by the comment and told the girl exactly what she thought of her." The woman has now reportedly been sacked from her position as Guy wanted to show his support for his wife and son. The source added: "It's Guy's film and Madonna is his wife, so they're very much the top dogs. "It was a bit foolish, to say the least, so it's no surprise it sparked fireworks." David has been living with Madonna and Guy since he left a Malawi orphanage last October. The adoption sparked huge controversy with 50 civil rights groups claiming Madonna's application had been fast-tracked because of her star status. It later emerged David was not an orphan. His father Yohane was forced to send him to an orphanage after his wife died when David was just a week old. The couple - who have a six-year-old son, Rocco, together, while Madonna has a 10-year-old daughter, Lourdes, from a previous relationship - are currently awaiting a visit from African welfare inspectors, who will decide if they can formally adopt David. Penston Kilembe, director of Malawi's Ministry of Child Welfare, will observe the family at their London mansion and will grill Madonna and Guy with a series of "sensitive questions" on subjects including, divorce, infidelity, infertility and alcohol for up to five hours each day.Labels: GOSSIP, GOSSIP JAMES EDSTROM, HOLLYWOO D, MADONNA
MADONNA stunned journalists backstage at Saturday’s Live Earth concert with a bizarre list of demands before they could interview her according to media reports. The Ray Of Light star wowed 80,000 fans at the London leg of the fundraising concert - but backstage journalists were told they must not check their notes during interviews with her as they had to maintain eye contact at all times, reports British newspaper The Daily Mirror. One U.S. TV source tells the newspaper, "It’s intimidating enough interviewing Madonna because she’s so intense, but when we were given these weird orders it was even worse."We thought her people were just joking. But it soon became apparent that they were deadly serious."Labels: GOSSIP, JAMES EDSTROM, LIVE EARTH, MADONNA

Madonna arrived in Malawi without husband Guy Ritchie yesterday. The singer - who travelled with daughter Lourdes and adopted son David - has been reportedly rowing with Guy about her plans to adopt again. The director was expected to join his wife, but stayed in London to look after their six-year-old son Rocco. Friends of the couple say the 48-year-old singer made a series of "tearful phone calls" begging Guy to be with her when 18-month-old David is reunited with his father today. A source told Britain's Daily Mail newspaper: "Madonna was furious, telling him to reschedule his work commitments because family comes first. But Guy wouldn't budge. He thought the trip had disaster written all over it. They were both very hurt over the way their adoption was criticised and Guy thought it was too soon to be going back with a film crew." It is alleged the couple have been arguing since David's adoption, and tensions increased when Madonna spoke to Guy about adopting again. The source added: "Guy went ballistic. He thinks they must spend more time going through the process. Madonna thinks his attitude is unsupportive." Madonna - wearing sunglasses, a wide Panama hat and combat trousers - and 10-year-old Lourdes visited a farm project in one of the country's poorest areas yesterday. They spent two hours chatting to hundreds of villagers at Millennium Garden - which teaches people how to grow their own food. The pair were shown around the irrigation system and Lourdes challenged local children to a water fight. Madonna and Lourdes were presented with flowers and bracelets, before driving back to Kimbala Lodge. Madonna is expected to stay in Malawi for a week and will visit several orphanages, sparking reports she is to adopt again. Her spokeswoman has denied the claims, insisting she is helping to establish a new health care centre.Labels: ADOPTION, CELEBRITY COUPLES, DAVID BANDA, GOSSIP, GOSSIP JAMES EDSTROM, GUY RICHIE, MADONNA, MALAWI
Madonna is heading back to Malawi to adopt another child. The singer - who adopted Malawi boy David Banda last year - is said to have fallen for a three-year-old orphan named Grace after seeing video footage of her playing at an African orphanage she helped fund. A source told Britain's The Sun newspaper: "Madonna saw a film of children at a place called The Consol Home. "She spotted a beautiful girl called Grace who lit the room with her smile, and fell head over heels for her. "Madonna kept saying, 'That girl has so much love in her. I want to help her achieve her potential.' " Madonna plans to travel to Malawi with her husband Guy Ritchie and her children Lourdes, 10, Rocco, six, and 18-month-old David on Sunday . A source at Malawi's Ministry for Gender and Child Welfare claims Madonna, 48, intends to adopt again. He said: "Madonna wants a girl this time. She loves Malawi a great deal and wants to help another child." Malawi officials are determined to avoid a repeat of the controversy caused by Madonna's adoption of David, after the star was accused of using her celebrity status to bypass laws and fast-track the process. Authorities have asked that she meets with at least 10 other girls before making her final decision. Meetings with two girls called Jessica and Mercy have already been set up. Madonna's representatives have denied the star is in Malawi to adopt again. They insist she is only in the country to do charity work. Publicist Liz Rosenberg said: "Madonna is indeed going to Africa to continue her work with the Raising Malawi charity. She is overseeing the building of a children's health care centre. "She is absolutely not adopting another baby. I know that has been a rumor ever since she began the adoption process for her son David but it just isn't true."Labels: ADOPT, DAVID BANDA, GOSSIP, JAMES EDSTROM, MADONNA, MALAWI
Madonna reportedly flew back to Africa with her adopted son David to meet with the boy's biological father Wednesday night, according to news reports.
The pop star hopes to spend a few days with Yohane Banda in Malawi and open discussions concerning her plans to adopt another child, according to Life & Style magazine. An insider tells the magazine, "She wants David to have a relationship with his biological father."She's going under the guise of a vacation, but she's not on vacation -- she's on a mission."Madonna, who also runs a foundation for abandone
