Hollywood star Mischa Barton is all set to go down the rabbit hole in a creepy new adaptation of Lewis Carroll's Alice In Wonderland.The former television star has signed on to star in Simon Fellows’ Malice In Wonderland opposite Danny Dyer. The film, which is described as a modern twist on the children’s classic, will begin principal filming in the U.K. next month.

MISCHA BARTON TO BECOME PRODUCER

Mischa Barton wants to become a film producer like Drew Barrymore - so she can take the best roles. The 21-year-old beauty is fed-up with the lack of "great female roles" in Hollywood, and plans to emulate her idol Drew by making her own movies. Mischa said: "Producing is something I might see as a necessity because great film roles are difficult to come by. "I admire a lot of women like Drew Barrymore who produce themselves and put together great projects. It's certainly the best way of making sure you get top roles on movies that interest you." Drew, 32, set up Flower Films with friend Nancy Juvonen in 1995. They have since produced a series of hits including 'Charlie's Angels', 'Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle', '50 First Dates' and 'Music and Lyrics', all of which Drew starred in herself. Mischa can soon be seen playing feisty schoolgirl JJ French alongside British stars Colin Firth and Rupert Everett in 'St. Trinian's', due out next month. Next year, she will appear as young lesbian Lana Starkova in 'You and I (finding t.A.T.u)', in which she finds love at a t.A.T.u pop concert and gets swept into a dangerous world of violence and drugs.

Mischa Barton has quit the Hollywood party scene. The former 'The O.C.' star has grown tired of the constant bickering and backstabbing that goes on in Tinseltown. She said: "When I got to Hollywood I didn't know anything about the business and you don't make the best of friends. You make a few mistakes when you're that age and it took me a while to find the friends I needed to be truly comfortable. I'm a private person, you won't find more than four or five true friends around me, ever." The 21-year-old actress - who fell out with Paris Hilton after she accused the hotel heiress of being jealous of other people's success - hates being pigeon-holed with other young stars. She added: "The tabloid persona - it is a persona. It's not me. I think, 'Who the hell is that girl?' I'm so low-key and chilled. But the media has created a fake 'young Hollywood' where everyone hangs out together and everybody knows each other. It couldn't be further from the truth. I feel so, so different from those girls." In May, Mischa was rushed to hospital after accidentally mixing her prescribed medication with alcohol. The actress, who was prescribed antibiotics for a bout of bronchitis, fell ill at a friend's Memorial Day barbecue after enjoying a few cocktails.

I love that the movie was so dark and sinister and you really feel like the kids are doomed."Parents were literally taking their kids and leaving the theatre during the movie."The 21-year-old star also revealed she was reduced to tears when she watched Oscar-winning movie 'Crash' with her 'O.C.' co-star Rachel Bilson.Mischa explained: "I saw 'Crash' recently and I thought it was so, so good! I cried and laughed and then cried like a baby. I saw it with Rachel Bilson and my sister and a couple of friends, and we cried so hard."Then I was laughing because it was so awkward. It was such a good movie!"
