Sexy Oscars host Hugh Jackman is giving friend Nicole Kidman a pass at the Academy Awards. The star say's he won't be poking fun at her. Jackman, who teamed up with Kidman in Australia, is insisting the actress can rest assured she won't be facing any embarrassment at the Oscars, because he knows she'll be mortified if he picks on her. He explains, "Nic is notoriously shy. ... At the (2004) Tonys, Nicole was sitting in the front row, and she looked up at me and mouthed, 'Don't you dare!'" But the famous actor insists other stars should be prepared to take the stage at the Oscars and play along with his pranks. Jackman, who performed pelvic thrusts on a embarrassed Sarah Jessica Parker when he hosted the Tony Awards, tells Entertainment Weekly magazine, "I do love things going off script. I hope there'll be some spontaneity. If people know what to expect, then your party's dead." Labels: GOSSIP, HUGH JACKMAN, JAMES EDSTROM, NICOLE KIDMAN

Nicole Kidman has revealed her new film 'Australia' is the movie she "dreamed of making" since she was a child. The Oscar winning actress is extremely proud to be a part of the romantic epic directed by 'Moulin Rouge' creator Baz Luhrmann and co-starring Hugh Jackman. Nicole, 40, said: "It's just extraordinary in epic-ness. This is the kind of film that I dreamt of making as a little girl. "For 'Moulin Rouge' we did everything in the studio but for this we've been on location the entire time - in Darwin, up in Queensland and then camping out in tents in the middle of the desert." 'The Golden Compass' star also admitted one of the best things about working on fellow Australian, Luhrmann's World War II romantic epic was filming without a green screen - the industry term for working with computer generated images. She said: "Green screen is definitely not my favourite thing. I became an actor because I wanted to act with other actors. That's been the beauty of Baz's film - you are on location breathing the air, feeling the impact of the sunsets. "With something like 'The Golden Compass' you really have to use your imagination, and it's a different challenge. "But it's where movies are heading. 'Australia' is the last of a dying breed and this is part of the new wave."Labels: GOSSIP, JAMES EDSTROM, NICOLE KIDMAN
Nicole Kidman wants David Beckham to star as a "hunky builder" in her new film 'Australia'. 'The Golden Compass' actress saw David play with his soccer team Los Angeles Galaxy in Australia recently, and was so taken with the muscular sportsman that she is desperate for him to appear alongside her in the romantic epic. A source close to the actress said: "Nicole thinks David would be perfect to play a laborer in the film, and director Baz Luhrmann agrees. "It would only be a small part and Nicole is hoping David might consider it." However, David - who had cameo appearances in 'Goal' and 'Goal II: Living the Dream' - has previously insisted he has no plans to forge a career in Hollywood. He said: "I never wanted to be an actor. It has never appealed to me. When I finish my soccer career what I want to do most is spend more time with my sons and Victoria and do some work for good causes." 'Australia' is a World War II musical extravaganza which tells the story of an English aristocrat, played by Nicole, who falls in love with a rugged Australian, played by Hugh Jackman.Labels: DAVID BECKHAM, GOSSIP, JAMES EDSTROM, NICOLE KIDMAN
Katie Holmes is devastated after being turned down for a role in a new musical film, it has been claimed. The former 'Dawson's Creek' star - who last year married Tom Cruise and gave birth to his daughter Suri - was desperate to appear in the movie adaptation of hit Broadway show 'Nine', but director Rob Marshall reportedly decided she wasn't right for the role. A source said: "Katie desperately wanted to be in 'Nine'. It would have taken her back to the singing and dancing she did when she was growing up. "She thought working with Rob would be a career breakthrough. She was heartbroken when she didn't get the part." 'Chicago' director Marshall's new project tells the story of famous film director Guido Contini and the women in his life. Catherine Zeta-Jones - who won an Oscar for her part in 'Chicago' - has been cast as Guido's muse, Sophia Loren will play his mother, while Tom Cruise's ex-girlfriend Penelope Cruz is to play his mistress. Tom's ex-wife Nicole Kidman was also tipped to appear in the movie, along with Gwyneth Paltrow, Renée Zellweger and Dame Judi Dench. Since Katie, 28, married Tom it has been claimed he has to approve her scripts before she auditions.Labels: GOSSIP, JAMES EDSTROM, KATIE HOLMES, NICOLE KIDMAN

Nicole Kidman and her sister used to speak to each other in a secret language. The Oscar-winning actress is very close to sibling Antonia and says they spoke in a hidden tongue when they were growing up. Nicole - who is godmother to two of Antonia's four children - said: "We used to have a secret language and all sorts of stuff. No-one will ever come between us. We need that love and support from each other, and we're both willing to give it. She's grown up all her life with a sister who's an actress, and she's been a part of it and held me in her arms when I've cried. She's seen the failures and the successes, and I've seen hers." When Nicole split from first husband Tom Cruise in February 2001, she took Antonia with her to the premiere of her movie 'The Others' - her first public appearance since their separation was announced - for moral support. The 'Cold Mountain' star, who is now married to musician Keith Urban, insists she and Antonio will always offer each other support, no matter where their lives take them. She added: "We will always be there for each other, no matter what happens." Labels: GOSSIP, JAMES EDSTROM, NICOLE KIDMAN
