HUGH JACKMAN EASY ON SEXY NICOLE KIDMAN

Sexy Oscars host Hugh Jackman is giving friend Nicole Kidman a pass at the Academy Awards. The star say's he won't be poking fun at her. Jackman, who teamed up with Kidman in Australia, is insisting the actress can rest assured she won't be facing any embarrassment at the Oscars, because he knows she'll be mortified if he picks on her. He explains, "Nic is notoriously shy. ... At the (2004) Tonys, Nicole was sitting in the front row, and she looked up at me and mouthed, 'Don't you dare!'" But the famous actor insists other stars should be prepared to take the stage at the Oscars and play along with his pranks. Jackman, who performed pelvic thrusts on a embarrassed Sarah Jessica Parker when he hosted the Tony Awards, tells Entertainment Weekly magazine, "I do love things going off script. I hope there'll be some spontaneity. If people know what to expect, then your party's dead."

STAR NICOLE KIDMAN'S DREAM MOVIE

Nicole Kidman has revealed her new film 'Australia' is the movie she "dreamed of making" since she was a child. The Oscar winning actress is extremely proud to be a part of the romantic epic directed by 'Moulin Rouge' creator Baz Luhrmann and co-starring Hugh Jackman. Nicole, 40, said: "It's just extraordinary in epic-ness. This is the kind of film that I dreamt of making as a little girl. "For 'Moulin Rouge' we did everything in the studio but for this we've been on location the entire time - in Darwin, up in Queensland and then camping out in tents in the middle of the desert." 'The Golden Compass' star also admitted one of the best things about working on fellow Australian, Luhrmann's World War II romantic epic was filming without a green screen - the industry term for working with computer generated images. She said: "Green screen is definitely not my favourite thing. I became an actor because I wanted to act with other actors. That's been the beauty of Baz's film - you are on location breathing the air, feeling the impact of the sunsets. "With something like 'The Golden Compass' you really have to use your imagination, and it's a different challenge. "But it's where movies are heading. 'Australia' is the last of a dying breed and this is part of the new wave."

NICOLE KIDMAN WANTS DAVID BECKHAM

Nicole Kidman wants David Beckham to star as a "hunky builder" in her new film 'Australia'. 'The Golden Compass' actress saw David play with his soccer team Los Angeles Galaxy in Australia recently, and was so taken with the muscular sportsman that she is desperate for him to appear alongside her in the romantic epic. A source close to the actress said: "Nicole thinks David would be perfect to play a laborer in the film, and director Baz Luhrmann agrees. "It would only be a small part and Nicole is hoping David might consider it." However, David - who had cameo appearances in 'Goal' and 'Goal II: Living the Dream' - has previously insisted he has no plans to forge a career in Hollywood. He said: "I never wanted to be an actor. It has never appealed to me. When I finish my soccer career what I want to do most is spend more time with my sons and Victoria and do some work for good causes." 'Australia' is a World War II musical extravaganza which tells the story of an English aristocrat, played by Nicole, who falls in love with a rugged Australian, played by Hugh Jackman.

KATIE HOLMES IS DEVASTATED OVER FILM

Katie Holmes

Katie Holmes is devastated after being turned down for a role in a new musical film, it has been claimed. The former 'Dawson's Creek' star - who last year married Tom Cruise and gave birth to his daughter Suri - was desperate to appear in the movie adaptation of hit Broadway show 'Nine', but director Rob Marshall reportedly decided she wasn't right for the role. A source said: "Katie desperately wanted to be in 'Nine'. It would have taken her back to the singing and dancing she did when she was growing up. "She thought working with Rob would be a career breakthrough. She was heartbroken when she didn't get the part." 'Chicago' director Marshall's new project tells the story of famous film director Guido Contini and the women in his life. Catherine Zeta-Jones - who won an Oscar for her part in 'Chicago' - has been cast as Guido's muse, Sophia Loren will play his mother, while Tom Cruise's ex-girlfriend Penelope Cruz is to play his mistress. Tom's ex-wife Nicole Kidman was also tipped to appear in the movie, along with Gwyneth Paltrow, Renée Zellweger and Dame Judi Dench. Since Katie, 28, married Tom it has been claimed he has to approve her scripts before she auditions.

NICOLE KIDMAN YEARNED TO BE IN LOVE

Nicole Kidman

Nicole Kidman "yearned" to be in love as a schoolgirl. The 40-year-old actress revealed she was so desperate to find her Prince Charming as a youngster she would make-believe she was being wooed. Nicole told Interview magazine: "I yearned for it, and I imagined it, and I started playing roles where I was in love." The 'Moulin Rouge!' star - who has two adopted children, 14-year-old Isabella, and 12-year-old Connor, with ex-husband Tom Cruise - says she has finally found true love with her husband, country singer Keith Urban. She said: "My husband and I are committed to each other and deeply in love. That's how I would put it. We're working on staying in that place, and hopefully we will for the rest of our lives." However, the Australian beauty says she will never admit she is happy because marriage is "complicated and beautiful" and you never know what tomorrow will bring. She added: "I don't ever say I'm happy. Partly because interviews are done in advance and you never know where somethings going. People's lives together are complicated and beautiful and that's what they should stay. They're very quiet. Complicatedly quiet. They don't need to be broadcast." Meanwhile, Nicole's latest movie 'The Golden Compass' - based on the first book in Philip Pullman's 'His Dark Materials' novel trilogy - is widely anticipated to be a box-office flop. A source told the New York Post newspaper: "People working on the movie say it is just plain bad." Insiders claim the film - which is released in December - contains too much computer-generated imagery and problems have arisen over the talking polar bear. A representative for New Line Cinema - which invested $175 million into the project - said: "That's bulls**t."

NICOLE KIDMAN'S HIDDEN TONGUE

Nicole Kidman and her sister used to speak to each other in a secret language. The Oscar-winning actress is very close to sibling Antonia and says they spoke in a hidden tongue when they were growing up. Nicole - who is godmother to two of Antonia's four children - said: "We used to have a secret language and all sorts of stuff. No-one will ever come between us. We need that love and support from each other, and we're both willing to give it. She's grown up all her life with a sister who's an actress, and she's been a part of it and held me in her arms when I've cried. She's seen the failures and the successes, and I've seen hers." When Nicole split from first husband Tom Cruise in February 2001, she took Antonia with her to the premiere of her movie 'The Others' - her first public appearance since their separation was announced - for moral support. The 'Cold Mountain' star, who is now married to musician Keith Urban, insists she and Antonio will always offer each other support, no matter where their lives take them. She added: "We will always be there for each other, no matter what happens."

NICOLE KIDMAN AND KEITH URBAN'S EASTER IN SYDNEY AUSTRALIA

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban in Sydney Australia

SYDNEY'S favourite daughter Nicole Kidman yesterday returned home with husband Keith Urban for a much-anticipated family reunion. The loved-up couple spent the day surrounded by family, with Kidman meeting newborn niece Sybella for the first time. "Easter is very important to me and spending Easter with my parents at home is a special treat," Kidman told The Daily Telegraph. "When I was growing up my parents always made a special Easter lunch - it was a big family occasion and it's wonderful I can share that experience with Keith now. "It is important for me to be here with my family for Easter because I'm away so much - and we're looking forward to meeting our new niece." The Oscar-winner's sister Antonia gave birth to her fourth child two weeks ago. Kidman and Urban flew in on a private jet. In a sign they plan on getting comfortable back in Sydney, minders unloaded 10 bags and suitcases into the garage of their waterfront home at Darling Point. The actress is in Sydney to prepare for Baz Luhrmann's epic new film Australia. Rehearsals for the movie, touted as the biggest Australian film ever made, begin tomorrow at Fox Studios. Filming in north Queensland is starting later this month. The couple are expected to be based locally for the next 10 months - Kidman's longest stint since filming Moulin Rouge! in 2000. But their stay together will be brief with country star Urban due to begin a 10-day European tour in Munich on April 19. He will then return to Australia to get ready for a national tour. Kidman yesterday said she couldn't wait to team up with Luhrmann for the project, which also stars Hugh Jackman and David Wenham. "I'm very excited to be home and I'm very happy that I will soon be working with my old friends again on Australia," she said. "I have not spent much time in the outback and working with Baz and CM (Luhrmann's wife Catherine Martin) will mean I will be able to see parts of Australia I haven't seen before. "I can't wait to get back on a horse and start filming. It's a great script and I'm really looking forward to being in this film. "Making it will be special for me because I'm working with a lot of old friends on the cast and crew." The pair looked extremely relaxed as they stopped off at Darling Point before heading out for the family lunch. They smiled and held hands as they took in the Sydney sunshine, looking very much like newlyweds. Now just two months shy of their first anniversary, Kidman and Urban have bounced back after the singer's 90-day stint in a US rehab facility for alcoholism. Urban has even scheduled a break in his upcoming US tour that gives him time off to celebrate their anniversary on June 25.
