JOEL MADDEN LOVES HIS LITTLE NEW BABY

Good Charlotte rocker Joel Madden is expressing his joy at becoming a father for the first time and insisting his baby daughter looks just like her mother Nicole Richie. Richie gave birth to Harlow Winter Kate Madden at the Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles on Friday.The new father was eager to tell everyone about his new pride and joy.He writes on his Web site, "I am finally home with my beautiful girlfriend and our brand new little daughter. She is 19 inches long and growing everyday already! "We are so blessed to have this beautiful little baby in our lives."The musician also says that the baby "looks so much like her mom it's crazy!"Madden goes on to say that little Harlow -- who weighed six pounds seven ounces when she was born -- is happy and healthy.He adds, "She eats like a little maniac and she's really sweet. She barely ever cries, even when daddy is changing her diaper, and believe me I suck when it comes to diapers, but I'm learning! I can't wait to show off some pictures."The couple has asked fans not to send gifts and cards, urging them instead to make a donation to the Richie-Madden Children's Foundation to help disadvantaged mothers-to-be.

NICOLE RICHIE MOVES INTO NEW DIGS

The Simple Life star has sold her Californian apartment and set up home with the Good Charlotte rocker, according to Perez Hilton. A source says, "Nicole sold her West Hollywood condo. She and Joel are living full-time at his place now."

IT'S A BOY FOR SIMPLE NICOLE RICHIE

Nicole Richie is expecting a boy. Lionel Richie, 'The Simple Life' star's father, has confirmed Nicole and her fiancé Joel Madden are busily preparing for the arrival of their son. The 'Hello' singer told America's OK! magazine: "Nicole is having a boy. She even has a few names picked out." The baby, Nicole and Joel's first child together, is due on New Year's Eve. The couple hosted a 'The Wizard of Oz' themed baby shower on Sunday, where most of the guests, including Paris Hilton, brought blue boy-themed gifts. Nicole and Joel - who plan to marry next year - recently set up the Richie Madden Children's Foundation for mothers in need. Next month, the charity will donate 100 'Mom-to-Be kits' to the Los Angeles Free Clinic. Guests at the baby shower were told to donate all gifts to charity, but were asked to bring a children's book so the couple could start a library for their unborn baby.

'The Simple Life' star, who is due to give birth to her first child in January, invited around 90 guests to the party at the exclusive Beverly Hills Hotel. Nicole's 'Simple Life' co-star Paris Hilton hosted the bash along with Nicole's sister Sophia and the pair chose the theme because it is Nicole's favorite movie. Paris, who was wearing a blue summer dress, gushed as she arrived: "I am so happy for her, it is really great. I can't wait for them to have the baby." Nicole's fiancé Good Charlotte singer Joel Madden, her mother Brenda, close friends DJ Samantha Ronson and Masha Gordon and Paris' sister Nicky also attended. The party kicked-off at midday, with Nicole looking elegant in a simple black dress and oversized sunglasses. Although Nicole and Joel are yet to confirm the sex of their baby, the couple reportedly received mostly blue gifts, suggesting they are expecting a boy. One guest gave the soon-to-be parents baby trainers for a boy and a Tummy T Jack maternity shirt with a picture of a boy on the front. Nicole, Joel and her family were the last to leave the party at 4.30pm. Last week, Paris admitted she was worried about the baby shower and wanted everything to be perfect. She said: "I honestly don't know what you play at a shower. Maybe I'll find a book or something to get some ideas. "It's going to be really nice, with just us girls. Just Nicole's closest girlfriends and female relatives." Joel recently revealed he can't wait to become a father, saying: "This is the most exciting thing that has happened to me, and to us."

Nicole Richie has confirmed she is pregnant. 'The Simple Life' star, who was sentenced to four days in jail after pleading guilty to DUI (driving under the influence) on Friday, is expecting her first child with Good Charlotte's frontman Joel Madden. When asked if she was pregnant, Nicole - who first sparked pregnancy rumours after she was photographed outside a reproductive clinic in April - told ABC News: "I'm almost four months." Nicole believes her jail sentence was fair and she is looking forward to "starting fresh" after serving her time. She said: "I have a responsibility and it's something I did wrong. If I could personally apologise to every single person who has lost a loved one from drunk driving, I would. Unfortunately, I can't, but this is my way of paying my dues and taking responsibility and being an adult. I will be happy once I have done my jail time. I can start fresh." The star was arrested on December 11, 2006 for driving on the wrong side of the road on a California highway. She told the arresting officers she had smoked marijuana and taken the strong painkiller Vicodin. Nicole insists she hasn't used drugs since December and says she was on painkillers at the time because she had "really bad menstrual cramps". The 25-year-old realised she needed to be more responsible behind the wheel after watching a distressing news piece on TV. Nicole revealed: "I was watching CNN about a month ago, and they happened to be talking about young people driving under the influence. They were flashing little kids on the screen who were killed by drunk drivers, and it broke my heart. It was a big wake-up call."

Lionel Richie says his daughter Nicole does not need to apologise for her bad behaviour.The singer believes his adopted daughter - who will stand trial on Wednesday as a result of her arrest for DUI (driving under the influence) last December - is just acting like any typical 25-year-old.He said in an interview with the USA Today newspaper: "She keeps apologising to me. I told her, 'You're doing exactly what you're supposed to be doing to your father at this age.' " The 'Simple Life' star - who pleaded not guilty to the charge at a preliminary hearing - could be jailed if she is found guilty because of a previous DUI conviction from 2003. Lionel, 57, added: "She's just in an unfortunate situation." The pop legend also thinks today's stars are subject to far more scrutiny than he ever was when he shot to fame in the 70s with Motown band the Commodores. He said: "There's just so much information out there right now - MySpace, cell phones, the Internet. If we had had all that when the Commodores were around, God only knows what my mother and father would have seen."

I'll go to her house, she'll go to mine. I wear black sweats and Paris wears pink ones. "She makes spaghetti or grilled cheese sandwiches - Paris is like the 'Iron Chef' - and we watch 'Lost'." The adopted daughter of Lionel Richie, who is a reformed heroin addict, reveals she once dreamed of going to theatre school and becoming a Broadway star. Nicole said: "My plan was not to be a celebrity. My plan was to be a singer and an entertainer. "I wanted to go to NYU, major in music theatre, do Broadway, and come out with an album. "Unfortunately I started f***ing up when I was in my teens. "I never thought 'The Simple Life' would take on a life of its own. And the fame came before the success." Paris is currently in jail for driving with a suspended licence and Nicole faces prison herself if found guilty of DUI (driving under the influence) as she has a previous driving conviction.

Sources claim the pair, who began dating last November, ended their relationship during a recent trip to Australia, where they attended the MTV Australia Video Music Awards. A source told Sydney's Daily Telegraph newspaper: "Joel was acting like a single man at the awards after party and the couple openly argued in front of the crowd." "Nicole was in tears at one stage, but no one really knows why." Good Charlotte singer Joel reportedly dumped Nicole for being "too clingy" during the trip, which included stops in Byron Bay and the Gold Coast. US gossip website Perez Hilton also claims the pair have split because they have not been seen together since their return. Blogger Perez wrote: "Word is spreading fast that Joel and Nicole broke up right after their trip to Australia." Earlier this year, it was reported Nicole and Joel were engaged. The pair almost tied the knot in Las Vegas on February 17, but decided to get Nicole's adoptive dad Lionel Richie's blessing first. A source said at the time: "They picked out matching silver and diamond rings at a jewellery boutique in Caesar's Palace and then headed to the Little White Wedding Chapel where the hovered outside for ages. "But Nicole wanted her dad's blessing so they went straight to see him when they got back to Los Angeles." The couple were then said to be planning to marry in front of their close family and friends at Mexico's Las Ventanas resort in Cabo San Lucas.

The 'Dancing on the Ceiling' singer - whose own adopted daughter Nicole entered a California rehab facility for heroin addiction in 2003 after being charged with possession of the drug - believes too many stars check into facilities for trivial reasons. Lionel said: "I think it's a cliché to say, 'I'm going into rehab. I bumped my foot today - rehab, I hit my head on something - rehab.' " The 57-year-old maintains his own daughter needed to go to rehab and some showbiz pundits believe his comments were aimed at stars who visited rehab after making bigoted comments. One publicist said: "It seems to me that he's referring to Mel Gibson or Isaiah Washington. If that's the case, that's really unfortunate." Nicole is currently awaiting a court hearing after being charged with Driving Under the Influence. The 25-year-old has pleaded not guilty despite confessing to the officers who stopped her while driving in the wrong direction on a California highway that she had smoked marijuana.
