DENZEL WASHINGTON AND TOM CRUISE TEAM

Tom Cruise

Denzel Washington and Tom Cruise are joining together to star in a new thriller. The expected hit movie was written by the brains behind the Bourne trilogy. The Hollywood stars will play rival spies who team up to take on an evil organization in The Matarese Circle, which is based on author Robert Ludlum’s book of the same name. David Cronenberg will direct the film. MGM studio bosses are eyeing the movie as a potential franchise for Cruise and Washington, and have already bought the rights to Ludlum’s follow up novel The Matarese Countdown. Ludlum is most famous for writing the books behind Matt Damon-starring movies The Bourne Identity, The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum.

STUDIO WON'T SHOW NEW CRUISE PHOTOS

Tom Cruise And Katie Holmes Last Night

Movie fans will have to wait to see closet case Tom Cruise's cameo in new war comedy Tropic Thunder, because movie bosses are refusing to leak photos to the media. The actor is virtually unrecognizable as a chubby, balding movie executive in the new Ben Stiller film, and Paramount marketing bosses are going to make sure the public will see the first shots of Cruise at the cinema when the movie opens on Wednesday. A production package sent out to the press features 37 on-set promotional stills, featuring stars like Stiller, Nick Nolte, Robert Downey Jr., and Jack Black - but Cruise, who attended the film’s Los Angeles premiere last night with his so-called wife Katie Holmes, is nowhere to be seen. An insider says, "It’s amazing that this has been kept under wraps for so long considering you’re up against the electronic media, but it looks as if the film bosses have won a major battle in keeping Cruise on camera a top secret this time."

CRUISE DENIES FAMILY MOVE OUT RUMORS

Tom Cruise

Tom Cruise's press representative is denying the star's wife, Katie Holmes, has ordered his mother and sister to move out of the couple's family mansion. Cruise's mom, Mary Lee South, and his sister Cass have been living with the Hollywood actor at his Beverly Hills home, since his divorce from Nicole Kidman in 2001. But now the star's family have decided to quit the luxury property, leaving Cruise, Holmes and their 2-year-old daughter, Suri, all alone in the house. The move is sparking rumors that Holmes had played a part in their leaving. But a representative for Cruise has dismissed the claims, telling the London newspaper Metro, "This has nothing to do with Katie."

THE HIDDEN RANDY JONES CRUISE STORY

Village People icon Randy Jones has been forced to scrap an story about Tom Cruise from his new memoir Macho Man, after editors feared lawsuits from the superstar’s lawyers. Jones’ book lifts the lid off the Y.M.C.A. band’s 1980s heyday, and his very wild lifestyle away from the stage and screen. The 55-year-old wanted to include a tale about the night he partied with a 20-year-old Cruise, before the actor found fame in 1983 film Risky Business but it failed to make the cut because of legal fears, editors tell the New York Daily News. Jones says, "Tom and I had the same management company at the time. I met him at a party Andy Warhol threw in Atlanta." However, the book, due for release at the end of this year, does include the time Jones smoked drugs at legendary New York nightclub Studio 54 in the presence of U.S. president Jimmy Carter’s mother Lillian: "We were in the corridor, and someone was passing around a joint. They handed it to Lillian, and she looked horrified. She didn’t take a puff, but she handed it to me very expertly."

PUBLISHERS REJECT TOM CRUISE BOOK

Bosses at a U.K. publishing company have dropped Andrew Morton's controversial biography of Hollywood actor Tom Cruise. Morton's expose of the Mission Impossible star was published in the United States in January but British-based publishers Macmillan have now decided to scrap plans to launch the book in the U.K. because Cruise forced them to remove so much of the best content. In "Tom Cruise: An Unauthorized Biography," Morton covered a series of controversial topics including the actor's high-profile relationship with the Church of Scientology. But Cruise made so many legal threats, Macmillan has now decided it is not worth releasing the biography. A spokesman for the company says, "We will not now be publishing the book. Although it was publishing in America, Cruise had so many complaints that by the time our lawyers had been through it, there was nothing left but red ink."We have explored every possible option but have concluded that once the potentially defamatory sections are taken out, there is not enough left to make a good enough read." The publishers main reason not to publish in the U.K. stem from libel laws there that are much tougher than in the U.S.

Tom Cruise and his happy family

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes took daughter Suri to see the Spice Girls' concert on Wednesday night. The Hollywood couple and their 19-month-old daughter joined David Beckham in a private box at Los Angeles' Staples Centre to watch their friend and David's wife Victoria perform with the girl band in the 90-minute show. A source said: "They looked really happy, like they were having a great time together. They all danced along to the songs." David took his three sons - eight-year-old Brooklyn, five-year-old Romeo and two-year-old Cruz - to the concert, and they all wore black T-shirts saying "Spice Boy". HOW TOM CRUISE TREATS HIS CHILDREN

Tom Cruise doesn't treat his biological daughter any differently to his adopted children. The 'Lions for Lambs' actor has an 18-month-old biological daughter, Suri, with his wife Katie Holmes, and two adopted children - 14-year-old Isabella and 12-year-old Connor with ex-wife Nicole Kidman - but insists he loves them all equally. Tom told Hello! magazine: "I wanted to be a father all my life. Truly, it makes no difference to me between my adopted children and Suri. I've never separated them in my thoughts - I just don't feel that way about it." Tom also revealed he is determined to ensure Suri travels all over the world, because he wants the toddler to understand and respect different cultures. He said: "I like to encourage my kids to be open to other people, and other ways of life, and to be curious about them. That's why we like to travel as a family. I always say to my children how important it is to try and look at things from someone else's point of view, and that's what travel does for you. "We can look at other people, see what we have in common with them, and celebrate our differences from them."

SEPARATE BEDROOMS FOR TOM CRUISE ?

Talented Katie Holmes with Hubby Tom Cruise

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes allegedly sleep in separate rooms because the actor snores so loudly, it has been claimed. The couple, who married in Italy last year, have master bedrooms in separate wings so Katie can get her "beauty sleep". A source told America's Star magazine: "It's a situation that works for both of them. Of course they spend time together alone at night like most married couples - after all, they conceived Suri! In fact, they even joke about having separate bedrooms to their friends - Katie says Tom snores, and this way she can get her beauty sleep!" The couple are said to have slept in separate rooms since they started dating in 2005. Katie has decorated her wing in "feminine pastel colours" and filled the space with stuffed animals. The source added: "At first, it was because Katie was Catholic and single, and they were only dating. It was the proper thing to do. Now that they are married, they don't feel the need to alter the arrangement. "When Katie moved into the house, it was made clear that Tom occupied the north wing of the second floor and that she would occupy a cluster of suites on the south wing of the same floor. "Katie wanted to make herself feel at home, and she insisted on remodelling her area, which consisted of a study, parlour and large bedroom suite. Over the course of several months, Katie created a larger space to have as her own. In the end, she designed the room of her dreams, a very feminine room painted in pastel colours, with a small carousel and filled with many stuffed animals. It's a perfect fit, and Katie is fine with it." A representative for Tom and Katie has denied they sleep in separate bedrooms.

TOM CRUISE NOW CAN FILM IN GERMANY

Tom Cruise is welcome to film his new war movie in Germany, says the country's Defence Ministry. Ministry officials revealed they haven't received an official request to film Tom's new movie 'Valkyrie' in the country, but insist they would "look agreeably" on any application. Earlier this week, it was reported Cruise would be banned from using German military bases to shoot the movie - which tells the true story of a failed plot to assassinate Hitler - following concerns over his association with Scientology. However, high profile members of the country's film industry are said to welcome Cruise's portrayal of Colonel Claus Von Stauffenberg, who is considered a war hero in Germany for his failed attempt to kill Hitler by placing a bomb in his suitcase in 1944. Christoph Fisser, one of the heads of Studio Babelsberg, said: "The assassination attempt against Hitler is hardly known outside Germany. We should therefore be delighted and welcome this wonderful opportunity to improve the image of our country." 'Valkyrie' is set to be directed by 'Superman Returns' helmer Bryan Singer, with Kenneth Branagh expected to co-star alongside Cruise. Scientology - the bizarre sci-fi cult of which Cruise is a long-time member - is under official observation by German authorities and is considered as a potential threat to German democracy.

KATIE HOLMES WANTS TO ENROLL SURI INTO CATHOLICISM CLASSES

Suri Cruise

Katie Holmes reportedly wants to enroll daughter Suri into "kiddie Catholicism" classes - even though husband Tom Cruise is a devout Scientologist. The actress, who was raised a Catholic, gave up her religion and embraced the bizarre sci-fi cult when she met in Tom in 2005. But Katie has now allegedly been secretly talking to pastors about her child's upbringing, and wants to enrol one-year-old Suri into some classes when she is older to learn about the faith, according to Life and Style magazine. After meeting Tom it was reported the 28-year-old actress had broke off ties with her old friends in Ohio, while her relationship with the actor allegedly caused a rift with her parents. Sources claim Katie - who is currently in Louisiana shooting new movie 'Mad Money' - has got back in touch with her childhood pals to "quietly reclaim parts of her past". She reportedly phoned Meghann Birie, a close school friend who she has not seen in almost two years. A source said: "She wanted to speak to someone not in Camp Cruise. Katie told Meghann she can't believe she abandoned her old life." It has also been claimed that Katie plans to visit her hometown of Toledo with Suri this summer and has invited her parents, Kathy and Martin, to the 'Mad Money' film set. A family friend revealed: "She's trying to make amends with her family."

TOM CRUISE HOSTS SEPT 11 FUND

Tom Cruise has won the support of hundreds of emergency workers in New York, after he hosted a $6,250-a-ticket benefit in the city Thursday night to raise funds for his controversial Sept. 11 detoxification program. The New York Rescue Workers Detoxification Project, which was co-founded by Cruise, is based on principals developed by Scientology leader L. Ron Hubbard. The free treatment involves large doses of vitamins, dietary adjustments and stints in a sauna.Among attendees at the high-profile event in Chelsea was "World Trade Center" actor Michael Pena, local councilors Joseph Addabbo and Hiram Monserrate, and members of the emergency medical technicians union. Monserrate had given his endorsement to the project last week, when he underwent the treatment for himself. Despite Mayor Bloomberg's denouncement of the program as "not science" on Wednesday, those present at the fundraiser were clearly happy to give their approval to the project, which saw Cruise personally thank guests for their attendance.Pat Bahnken, president of the city's paramedics and EMT union, tells Page Six, "He said how grateful he was to everyone for supporting the project. He took time out to speak to every person. It took him an hour to get through the hallway. He was talking to everyone. It was genuine, nothing phony about it."Councilman Addabbo also took the opportunity to express his anger at the program's critics. He says, "I cannot stand idly by and see something that is working be ignored. The project seems to work. I've seen it firsthand."

But I and other family members are worried that the picture will be financed by the sect and be used to get across its propaganda."The as yet untitled war thriller tells the true story of Stauffenberg, a Bavarian aristocrat-turned-colonel, who planted a bomb in an attempt to kill Hitler in 1944. The Fuhrer survived the blast and Stauffenberg was later executed.
