Part of the fun of Minecraft is definitely the building. Creating colorful constructions or dying sheep in different colors are definitely fun ways to show off your creativity. In Creative Mode every dyed block, item or entity is just a click away, but in Survival Mode it takes a while to collect all of the dyes in the game. Here’s how to acquire all 16 dye colors in Minecraft Survival Mode.

Obtaining dyes

There are three different types of dyes when it comes to the methods of obtaining them. Primary dyes mean they can only be created from an earthly source like a flower, cactus, or ink bag. Secondary dyes can only be created by mixing two existing dyes together. Multipurpose dyes, on the other hand, can be created by both mundane sources and dye mixing methods.

Most of these dyes are made from a square or craft table. The few that have an alternate method are marked with said method in parentheses after the item used to create the dye.
